dropload

dropload

Just say this neat free service and it looked really cool to me. You use it to transfer large files (less than 100 megs) to other people. Any file for free. It catch is it will only be available for 7 days. Still cool though. I will update how well this works once I know more.

kinda but you aren't hosting the file from your computer. You upload the file to Dropload's server then the person how recieves it downloads it from there.

Bit torrent works differently. One or more people host a "seed" and then as multiple people are downloading the file from the "seeds" they are also uploading the parts of the file that they already have to other poeple.

This only has big gains in reducing your web traffic if the files are very large and there are lots of people downloading at the same time.

This is probably more than you wanted to know about bit torrent but too bad.
