Damn, I had forgotten about that one, goddamit, who the hell believed that, has there ever been a war that payed for itself?? Man, I thought I was imagining that he had said that, it is just so ludicrous.
I think he said it cause he was implying that by taking control of the oil power, we then control the price of oil. Thus we will save money on oil, making up for the war...
Looks like its working really well...
Yeah, I guess he was implying that (although does anyone else remember the repeated 'we do not want their oil, it is for them' phrase). But still, who the hell thought that a modern war would be 'free'.
I wonder how much the Gulf War cost, when they got back a whole shit load of oil. Bet that wasn't 'free'.
I doubt the wars where Britain actually took over countries and exploited them were 'free' (not for many years at least).
I wonder if anyone in that administration studied History.
